Yin Yoga gets deep into the body, stretching and opening the fascia, tendons and ligaments, releasing blockages both physical and emotional and creating space not only in the body but also in the mind.
In Yin, the area of the body mainly targeted is between the navel and the knees and each pose requires the use of supports such as blocks, to help you remain in the posture for several minutes. This enables us to slow things down and really be mindful of what we are doing and aware of what we’re experiencing.
In Yin because the postures are held for longer, we play around with our edges, taking the posture to a point where there is some significant resistance, then riding on that edge with a gentle flowing breath, waiting for the body to allow us to go deeper.
